Blast Mitigating Thermoplastic Armor
Armor is being developed by Jeco using finite element analysis to achieve controlled and predictable crush strength. The Jeco analysis—conducted with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories and other organizations—involves combining proprietary honeycomb structures (often called core structures) with layered materials. These layered materials create unique structures, which can be shaped and formed to create a protective armor for advanced military applications. The finite element analysis models being used, rely on sophisticated analytic software and the use of supercomputers at several universities.
